Yesterday I walked in the door and the wife proudly announced, “I made chili hot dogs and broccoli for dinner.”
I stopped dead in my tracks.
Chili dogs… and BROCCOLI?
On what planet is that a legitimate combination? Uranus? Because that’s about the only place I can imagine somebody saying, “You know what this greasy, chili-covered hot dog really needs? A nice healthy tree on the side.”
That’s like ordering a double cheeseburger, large fries, and then asking for a Diet Coke because you’re “watching your calories.”
The chili dog is sitting there covered in chili, cheese, onions, and bad decisions… while the broccoli is over in the corner acting like it showed up to save everybody’s cholesterol.
Broccoli isn’t canceling out the chili dog. That’s not how nutrition works. You can’t commit a full-blown dietary felony and then put three green florets on the plate as character witnesses.
I chose to eat the leftover chicken and dumplings from the night before!π
But somewhere in the universe, an alien looked down at that plate and said, “Even WE wouldn’t do that.” πππ₯¦
